Why do I have to provide my credit card information when I want to sell a part?
There are two reasons that we collect credit card information from you when you create a new listing:
- When we successfully find a buyer for your parts we charge our fees at that time and we use the card that we have on file for you when your listing was created.
- We maintain a safe marketplace and verifying your credit card information helps us confirm that you're a real person. This also provides some comfort for buyers who may be unsure about buying from individuals over the internet.
Is my credit card going to be charged?
Not until a buyer purchases the part from you. We keep your card on file until we find a buyer for you. We don't want to get paid until we have delivered value to you. We think it's more fair this way.
How do I know my credit card information is safe with you?
Your credit card information is protected by the fine folks at Beanstream. They are an industry leading Credit Card Processor and are regulated by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council. Together we ensure that we're following PCI standards to protect your information and also avoid processing fraudulent transactions.
Is PayPal the only way to receive funds?
Yes. At this time we have built-in support for PayPal. We may add more services in the future as they become popular. If there's one you're looking for please let us know.
What's a "Feeler"?
A Feeler is like a listing, except it's not. If you have a part that you're not sure if there will be any interest in, try listing it as a feeler. If someone is interested in learning more about it you can add more information at that time or decide to convert it to a full listing at any time you like.
What's "Styckyd Consignment"?
It's a service that we provide to sellers who might not have time to sell their parts. Instead of listing them on your own send your parts our way and we'll take care of everything for you. We clean them, take pictures, talk with potential buyers, do some research on the parts and then ship them to the buyer out of our facilities. It makes the entire process a little easier for everyone involved.
Why do I need to supply my address to create a listing?
Styckyd automatically calculates the shipping cost between your location and the buyer's location and adds this price to the price you're asking for the part. To properly calculate the shipping cost we need to know where the part will be shipped from.
